vacation in Spain. He remains alive to this day through his songs and the movies with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. Bing comes to life each Christmas, when we hear him croon White Christmas. Until I read the book, I didn’t realize how influential Crosby was in music, as well as, golf. He impacted music, both inside and outside studios and recording halls. He was also a large influence in golf, both on and off the golf course. His Crosby Clambake introduced the pro-am to golf. Kathryn honored her late husband, when Nathaniel Crosby won the U.S. Amateur in 1981, but you will have to read the book to find out how. Nathaniel’s U.S. Amateur victory also produced quite an emotional reaction from Bing’s longtime friend, Bob Hope, also a lifelong golfer, who watched the final that day on television. What makes 18 Holes with Bing such an enjoyable book to read is how much Bing Crosby was just a regular guy. The book also includes a foreword from 18-time major professional golf champion, Jack Nicklaus. Reading 18 Holes with Bing is truly a must-read for anybody who plays golf, enjoys music, or relishes learning about the life of an American icon, who was really a “golfer that sang.”
