Indiana Golf Journal September.indd

Greetings from the editorial desk of the Indiana Golf Journal I want to acknowledge some of the recent success stories of golfers with roots in the Hoosier state. In this particular issue, we have provided a recap of the summer of competitive golf by Zionsville resident Annabelle Pancake, now a senior at Clemson University. Her impressive runner-up performance at The Women’s (British) Amateur Championship at the Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, England in mid-June was easily one of the biggest Indiana golf stories this year. At the 40th Annual PlayGolfMyrtleBeach.com World Amateur Handicap Championship (August 28-September 1) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, there were some strong performances by a few Indiana golfers. In the Flight Winners Division, Mike Zeeb of New Carlisle finished in a four-way tie for second place. In the Men’s Gross Division, Christopher Schultz of La Porte fired a three-round total of 209 to defeat David Hunt of Orlando, Florida by nine strokes. And, in the father-son duo division, Zeeb and his son Brock combined to win the Casa de Campo Pairs Competition. At the 5th U.S. Senior Women’s Open held at the Waverly Country Club in Portland, Oregon in midAugust, Marion native Jackie Gallagher-Smith finished in a tie for 38th place at +15. We certainly want to recognize the winner of the Epson Tour’s French Lick Resort Charity Classic, Jiwon Jeon from South Korea. Enjoy the fall weather in Indiana as we put the finishing touches on another memorable year of golf. Also, set aside time to attend this year’s IHSAA girls state golf finals to be held at the Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel on September 29-30. Don’t forget to fix your Divots!
