Two members of the Ohio State Women’s Golf Team Adeena Shears and Jaclyn Lee also advanced to the Match Play portion of the tournament. Shears had to survive a nine-for-one-spot playoff to make through to match play. Being the last in Shears lost to the top seeded Lucy Liu in her first-round match.

Lee breezed through the stroke-play firing rounds of 68-68 to finish tied for fourth. Lee knocked out Ohio golfer Kylie Raines in her first round match and made it all the way to the quarter-finals before losing to Kaylee Benton from Arizona.

It was an all Bama Final as Kristen Gillman, who grew up in Texas, but is a member of the Alabama Women’s Golf team, defeated in-coming Alabama junior-college transfer, Jiwon Jeon from Korea, 7-6 to win her second U.S. Women’s Amateur title. The win completes a comeback from injury, that kept Gillman off the links for several months.
