Miami Valley Golf Association Wraps Up Another Great Year of Golf

The Miami Valley Golf Association (MVGA) wrapped up its 2017 golf season with the Miami Valley Team Invitational on October 12th at the Sugar Valley Country Club.

The team from Piqua Country Club bested the rest of the field and lays claim to the James C “Skip” Snow Trophy until next year’s event. The festivities were topped off with a hole-in-one recorded by Gunnar Marshall at the 17th hole.

The Miami Valley Masters also concluded their season with the Celebration at Dayton Country Club on October 9th. Mike Webster, Harry Williamson, Dan Stockstill and Chris Knowles won the best-ball format.

Austin Sipe received the Player of the Year Award. Sipe tied for fifth in the Metropolitan, bested a combined field of professionals and amateurs in the Springfield Classic, plus he added the Ohio Amateur Championship to his winnings last summer. His total 600 points beat the nearest competitors, Jeff Scohy, who finished with 435 points and Pete Samborsky with 400 points.

Dan DeVore was named Senior Player of the Year and Tony Pascale was recognized for his outstanding work all year long on the tournament program.

The Dayton District Women’s Golf Association held their final event of 2017 at the Country Club of the North. The team challenge was won by Glenda Taylor, Cheryl Davis, Jeannie Joyce and Linda Williams. Sue Seitz was the Gross Pin Winner and Dee Dee Huffer won Net honors.
