Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf, John Cook, Ben Curtis, Meg Mallon and Rosie Jones are only a sampling of the great Ohio collegiate players that have gone on to find success in the professional ranks. Ohio State, Miami, and Kent State are just three of the schools that are preparing the next great batch of golfers we will see on our television screens in the future.
Here is a preview of Ohio College teams and their schedules.
Ohio State University
OSU is not only one of the largest universities in the nation, it also boasts one of the best golf courses to be found. The OSU Scarlet course was designed by Dr. Alister MacKenzie and underwent a renovation by Jack Nicklaus in 2007. It has hosted the NCAA Championships on several occasions and annually hosts the Web.com Tour’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship.
OSU Men
Current Head Coach, Jay Moseley has only been at the school for three seasons, but is already building a strong tradition. In 2015 senior Tee-k Kelly captured the individual medalist honors at the NCAA Kohler Regional, becoming the first Buckeye to do so.
Last year the team qualified for the NCAA Regionals, after recording the highest finish in the Big Ten Championships in the past 13 years. Will Grimmer finished runner-up in the individual competition.
This spring the Buckeyes defeated Michigan and Maryland in the first two rounds of the Big Ten Match Play Championship held at Hammock Beach Resort in Florida, but they were knocked out in the third round by Iowa. At the Puerto Rico Classic, they finished 10th out of 15 teams.
They will next head to Greensboro, Georgia for the Linger Longer Invitational, followed by the Boiler Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana. They play host for the Robert Kepler Spring Invitational in April before heading to Baltimore Country Club for the Big Ten Championships.

OSU Women 
The Lady Buckeyes can also rattle off a long list of former golfers that have gone on to achieve success in the professional ranks. Rosie Jones and recent World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, Meg Mallon were both OSU Alumnae.
Therese Hession is in her 27th year as the head women’s golf coach at OSU and has built a strong golf program in Columbus. Hession’s teams have earned 10 Big Ten Championship titles, plus the Lady Buckeyes have reached the NCAA Regionals, 24 of the last 26 years (23 consecutive), with 16 NCAA Championships appearances.
The current Buckeye Women’s Golf team is comprised of young ladies from all corners of the globe, including Russia, Japan, Canada, West Virginia, Virginia, as well as, Ohio.
This spring the women began slow with a T-17 finish at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes, California. They will be looking for improvement at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and the Clover Cup both held in Arizona. The Clemson Invitational and the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational will lead into the Big Ten Championships to be held at TPC River’s Bend in Cincinnati.
