Ohio State Senior Will Grimmer fired two rounds of 66-69 at Springfield Country Club to win medalist honors and qualify for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock last month.
This was his second appearance in a U.S. Open, he missed the cut in 2014, but was determined to improve this year.
He raised eyebrows across the golf media when he made the cut on Friday night at Shinnecock and finished the tournament T-66.
Grimmer will complete his senior year at Ohio State and then turn professional next summer.
