I know this will offend religious scholars, but I am not sure the writers of the Bible got the location of the Garden of Eden correct.
I just returned from the Quivira Los Cabos on the southern-most tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula and I am very certain this is what that fabled Garden looked like.
The deep blue waters of the Pacific, with huge waves thundering in against the sandy beaches and the towering hillsides, all add to the allure of this paradise on earth.
Los Cabos is actually comprised of two cities, San Jose’ and Cabo San Lucas that stretch over a 19-mile corridor at the very bottom of Baja, 1,000 miles south of San Diego.
Pueblo Bonito Golf & Spa operates four hotels in the Los Cabos area. The Pueblo Bonito Rose’ and Los Cabos are situated on Medano beach in downtown Cabo San Lucas. The Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and Pacifica hotels are in Quivira Los Cabos, a few miles west of the city.
One of the attractions at the resort is the Quivira Golf Club. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened for play in 2014. It is one of the most scenic and picturesque golf courses, I have ever played.
In a destination revered for its unique ocean-desert-mountain setting, Quivira offers more oceanfront exposure than any other course in Los Cabos, with views from every hole of the waters where the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet.
The course begins with the first tee near the beach and the first four holes play through the valley. From the back of the fourth green the cart path begins a nearly one-mile ascent up a huge hill to the fifth tee box, which sits 285 feet above the beach.
The views back to the Quivira club house and the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resort and Towers are magnificent.
Holes five and six play on a cliff high above the ocean, with views of the water colliding with the granite rocks below. One of the unique aspects of Quivira Golf Club is the Comfort Stations that offer food and beverages (included in the greens fee), plus the ever-present views of the Pacific Ocean.
The course provides some of the most dramatic elevation changes I have ever experienced and is worth the price, just for the views of the ocean and beach, as you work your way around the course.
The warm waters off Cabo San Lucas are rife with opportunities to catch seasonal sightings of the whales, that have made the 6,000-mile trek from Alaska, to bear their calves. They can be seen from shore, or from one of the whale-watching boats that can be rented in the Cabo marina.
The award-winning Armonia Spa is open daily and offers luxurious full body massage, as well as, a comprehensive menu of wellness-oriented body treatments, a fitness center, beauty salon, and locker rooms. It has been recognized as one of the top three spas in Mexico.
Several Restaurants are available at both the Pacifica and Sunset Beach Hotels. The Market at Sunset Beach is a unique casual dining area with several options including a 50’s style diner, Asian, Pizza shop, Ice Cream, a Bakery, plus a new Sports Bar, called The After, available for a complete dining experience.
Numerous dining options run from casual to formal fine dining and will please any palate. Whether you want to enjoy a snack by the pool, or beach, a cool beverage in a quaint setting, an enjoyable repast after your round at the golf course, or a fine dining experience, Quivira Los Cabos has you covered.
