Spring has Finally Arrived!

It appears Spring has finally reached Ohio. The temperatures are warming up, the sun is making the grass green up and birds are building nests around my house.

I even have one pesky woodpecker, who is trying to attract a sexy female by drumming on the flashing that surrounds the chimney on the roof of my house. I wish him luck, soon, the noise is somewhat distracting.

We have a great feature this month about Jim Long, who took a chance operating a golf course. That single action has grown into four courses in Ohio and built a legacy for his entire family along the way.

The Supreme Court is currently debating the issue of legalized gambling on sporting events and is expected to issue judgement by the end of July. Most insiders feel the court will decide to allow sports gambling. The sports gambling industry is vast and would generate billions of dollars in tax revenues to states.

Mike May, in a departure from his normal golf travel pieces, has contributed an article that talks about the importance of fitness for all Americans and how golf can help extend our lives and add to a healthy lifestyle. Fitness and PHIT America was also a central topic on National Golf Day in Washington D.C.

With the calendar turning to May, the Memorial Tournament will once again be held at Muirfield Village. It brings the best golfers to the state and this year is no exception. All four major champions will be in the field competing for the $1.5 million first-place check.
