Historically April means only one thing to Golfaholics, The Masters. But, with the addition of the Drive, Chip & Putt Finals for junior golfers and the first-ever Augusta National Women’s Amateur, golf fans have even more action to get excited about.
Hopefully Haylee Harford, from Leavittburg, Ohio and Furman University, will make it to the Final 30 that will compete for the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur title.
Speaking of women’s golf, in this issue we feature notable women making an impact in golf. The fastest growing segment in golf is the millions of women that are taking up the game and we want to recognize some of the great women golfers of all time.
We also list five resorts that cater to women’s golf trips and have everything necessary to make your next Girl’s Golf Getaway a hit.
Spring is also a great time for golf travel and this month we have pieces on Sea Pines on Hilton Head and PGA Village in Florida. Plus, contributor Len Ziehm writes about the Fort Myers Golf Club, a stop on the Florida Historic Golf Trail and the winter home of industrial tycoons from Ohio, Harvey Firestone and Thomas Edison, as well as, Henry Ford.
Golf fans should also take note of their favorite college golf team as conference championships will be decided this month, with the NCAA Championship to be contested in May.
If you have a junior golfer in your family, find a summer junior golf league for them to learn more about themselves and their golf games. Competing in organized golf tournaments can help them build confidence and make new friends.
