Tiger Point Golf Club is situated along the shores of the Santa Rosa Sound in Gulf Breeze, Florida. It’s minutes from the white sand of Pensacola and Navarre Beaches. The course is city owned, designed by PGA TOUR player and Pensacola resident Jerry Pate, plus it is managed by Honours Golf. With awe-inspiring water views, an abundance of native wildlife and vegetation, the course is thriving.
Tiger Point Golf Club offers options with five sets of tees that play from 7,038 yards to a more manageable 5,241 yards for the average golfer. Pick the tees that best suit your game and you are guaranteed to have a good time. Water comes into play on at least 14 holes, plus Pate strategically placed bunkers in the fairways near landing areas.
There are several holes at Tiger Point that will capture your attention with the stretch on the front nine, Nos. 3 – 6, being quite memorable. The par 5 third hole plays 444 yards from the White Tees and offers a great chance for a low score. Long hitters who can hug the right side of the fairway and avoid the water will have a golden opportunity to go for the green in two. Otherwise, playing up the left side with both your tee shot and layup takes the water out of play.
Number 4 is a par 3 that involves a 164-yards carry over water from the white tees. Anything short will find either water or sand. The green is very wide, not very deep and well undulated.
The fifth hole is Tiger Point’s signature hole and features an Island green. Although the hole plays 379 yards, most players will be able to hit driver off the tee and still have a short iron or wedge into the green.
The par 4 sixth plays 413 yards with water running down both sides of the fairway. Accuracy off the tee is a bonus. The green is well elevated and slopes back to front with bunkers on either side. Water can easily come into play, if you mishit your approach shot.
Tiger Point’s practice facility includes a driving range, as well as, both putting and chipping greens. The talented and knowledgeable instructional staff can help fix any golfing ailment.
After your round, stop by the Sunset Grille located inside the clubhouse. The culinary team creates a savory blend of local seafood and southern cuisine, all served with a healthy helping of southern hospitality.
Tiger Point’s Club Sandwich is exceptional. It’s made with oven roasted turkey, black forest ham, apple-wood bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato on wheat bread, along with fries, it’s enough for two people.
Tiger Point can be enjoyed either as a daily fee player, or as a member. It’s a must play if you find yourself in the Pensacola area, not only for the golf, but also for the views.
