With the departure of Jamie Broce earlier this summer the University of Toledo was in need of a new Men’s Golf Coach. They found their man, Jeff Roope, right here in Ohio, the former men’s and women’s golf coach at Wittenberg University.

Mike O’Brien, UT Vice-President and Athletic Director said,

“Jeff is an outstanding coach and an exceptional person. His experience in building a national championship men’s golf program speaks for itself, but it only tells part of the story. He is a man of great character, who we feel will be able to recruit student-athletes, who will excel in the classroom and bring our men’s golf program back into national prominence.”

Roope will be expected to recruit top college golfers to Toledo and coach them to compete on the national stage. To do that they will first have to get by perennial Mid-America Conference powerhouse, Kent State.

Roope grew up in Grove City, Ohio and received his BS from Bowling Green State University, as well as, a Masters from Ashland College.

While coaching at Wittenberg, he helped amass 70 team championships, 67 all-conference performers, 48 medalist winners, 31 academic award winners and 22 All-Americans.
